Institutional Review Board Form
What else do I need for the application? I need to finalize what my Driving Question title might be. I also have to think more about what my Research Methods and Procedures might be to answer those subquestions that will support that larger driving question. Then, what will I do with the data, how can I couch it into Professional Learning for teachers? What do I need to know to address my Driving Question? Why? What further research needs to be done so I can narrow my driving question? How am I going to frame my question? What are my Sub-questions going to be? How will they support the larger Driving Question? What is going to be the most effective to impact my work? When do I begin the study? What target students do I want to focus on? And at what site? What do I need to explicitly teach/do to support this group during the month long research study? What supports will I need to put in place to gain results? How will I organize the data? How will I present the data? How will I measure my Need to Knows? I will start with narrowing my Driving Question. When does this need to be done with EDU 790? I am still in the research gathering stage, and what point do I need to finalize my Driving Question and map out a plan?

I like that you're asking yourself how you can couch this into professional development for teachers, and what will be the most effective impact to your work. I'm learning as I go, that this is why it's so beneficial to be pursuing our Master's while we're working. While there's a place for learning simply for the sake of learning, there are only so many hours in the day. Attempting to develop a DQ and research plan that can have maximum impact on our work in school- or at the district office- is smart, and directly benefits our communities. I, too, am keeping that in mind as I shape my driving question, research, and even think about our capstone project.

Karly, I liked how you presented your blog in an almost entirely question format. Reading your questions, made me think of the questions that are running through my mind. Some of your questions are the same as mine such as: "When do I begin the study?" and "How will I organize and present the data?"

Thank you for all of these thoughtful questions. I feel like I need to ask a ton of questions in order to narrow my driving question. I also think gearing this towards bringing your findings to teachers is key. Thinking beyond one classroom is what will change teaching. Expanding pockets of greatness, or pockets of knowledge in this case, into system wide change will allow more impact and affect more students. Your questions have led me to ask and narrow my own driving question. What is realistic in a few weeks? How will I share this information? Will I do the teaching or will other teachers do the teaching? How many classrooms should I attempt this in? You have opened a whole new can of questions.

Seems that we all have the same type of questions about scope and sequence. It's helpful to have all the other needs worked out, but impossible to start until we know more about that.
